He was one of the first Americans to pioneer people-to-people diplomacy programs in response to Mikhail Gorbachev’s call for an end to the Cold War (1990).

Lloyd has founded educational programs in organic sustainable agriculture (2006), was the first president of the Farmers Union (2010) that spread since throughout Hawaii.

Recognizing the harm done in drawing blood from infants, with an invention by a friend for safer blood collection, Lloyd created a marketing campaign that brought together investors who were instrumental in obtaining patents for the safety needles.
